Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Ebbora is an iPhone app for people choosing alcohol-free days, published by the Ebbora team (“Ebbora”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to information when you use the Ebbora app and this website. If you have a question, email [email protected].
2. What stays on your device
Ebbora is designed so that the personal things you write never need to leave your phone. Everything below is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device storage. We don’t operate a server for it, we don’t receive a copy, and we can’t read it:
- Your daily check-ins (alcohol-free, drank, or prefer not to say), the feeling you pick and any note you write
- Your journal, weekly reflections and saved memories
- Your start date, the reason you started, difficult moments you chose during setup, and your urge log (including triggers)
- Your companion’s name, your character’s look, and valley progress (care days and discoveries)
- Optional settings such as reminders, app lock, appearance and a weekly amount of money kept
Some of this can reveal information about your health or alcohol use. That’s exactly why it stays on your device. Ebbora has no account system, no cloud sync and no social features.
3. Purchases and subscriptions
Payments are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your card details, Apple ID or billing address.
To check whether you have an active plan, Ebbora uses RevenueCat, a subscription service provider. When the app checks or restores a purchase, RevenueCat receives:
- a random, app-specific identifier created on your device (not your name, email or Apple ID)
- purchase and subscription details from Apple, such as the product, price, currency, purchase and renewal dates, trial status and store country
- basic technical information needed to process the request, such as app version, device model, iOS version and the IP address your request comes from
RevenueCat does not receive any check-ins, notes, journal entries or other content you create. RevenueCat processes this information on our behalf to provide the purchase service; see the RevenueCat privacy policy. Apple’s handling of payment information is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
4. Widgets, reminders and Face ID
Widgets. If you add an Ebbora widget, the app shares a small snapshot with it on your device: your care-day count and when your access expires. Notes and alcohol records are never included. When app lock is on, progress isn’t shared with widgets.
Reminders. Reminders are optional local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. They use neutral wording and don’t go through any server of ours.
Face ID and Touch ID. App lock uses Apple’s authentication. Biometric data is handled by iOS and is never available to Ebbora.
5. Exports and backups
You can export a backup file from the app at any time. That file contains your records and private notes and is not encrypted by Ebbora, so keep it somewhere safe and only share it with people you trust. Once you save or share an exported file, where it goes is up to you.
Like other apps, Ebbora’s on-device data may be included in your iPhone’s own iCloud or computer backups, depending on your device settings. Those backups are handled by Apple and your device, not by us.
6. This website
Our own website code does not set analytics or advertising cookies. It remembers a couple of preferences (such as whether sound is on) in your browser’s local storage, which never leaves your browser. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser information when the page loads; see Google’s privacy policy. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and reliability.
Optional launch waitlist. The sign-up page embeds GetWaitlist. If you join, your email and any referral information are sent to GetWaitlist to manage your sign-up and Ebbora launch updates. Loading the form also connects to GetWaitlist and its widget providers, including Google reCAPTCHA, which may receive your IP address and browser information. The widget’s page-view heartbeat is disabled. No app check-ins or journal entries are shared. See the GetWaitlist privacy policy. To request removal from the waitlist, email [email protected].
If you email us, we’ll use your email address and message only to reply, and delete the conversation when it’s no longer needed.
8. Your choices and rights
Because your content lives on your device, you’re always in control of it:
- See or take it: export a backup from the app’s settings.
- Delete it: use the erase option in settings, or delete the app. Remember to delete any exported files and device backups you no longer want.
- Purchases: manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or state laws in the US), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal information. For anything held by our service providers on our behalf, such as purchase records at RevenueCat, email us and we’ll help. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Children
Ebbora is made for adults and isn’t directed to children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
10. Security and retention
Your data stays on your device and benefits from iOS security, including device encryption when your iPhone has a passcode. You can add Ebbora’s own app lock and privacy cover. Data remains until you erase it or delete the app. Purchase records held by RevenueCat are kept as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations.
11. Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, mention it in the app or the App Store release notes. Questions or requests: [email protected].
